Summer Cottages on Mackinac Island

Meandering up the hill by The Grand Hotel I love to see the summer cottages set on a
bluff overlooking Lake Huron.
Although, a few hundred people live on Mackinac Island year round most of the houses are summer homes
and include stunning gardens.
I took my camera out one afternoon to photograph the flowers and cottages.

This gorgeous home is owned by Richard and Jane Manoogian and is used as a guest house for their foundation. As part of the convention we were attending, we got to tour the house at night!
I was so bummed I did not have my camera with me because it was fabulous inside...
decorated Michigan cottage style with breathtaking views of the Mackinac Bridge.
I like to picture myself living in these idyllic abodes.

Many of the magnificent cottages are used as hotels or bed and breakfasts.
I love the pastel colors!

I can't get enough of photographing flower gardens and the unique cottage architecture.
These pics remind me of Monet paintings.

I was delighted to discover dahlias in one garden:

This is my favorite!
How would you like THAT view in your back yard?
Today, I leave for Colorado to attend my nephew Justin's wedding.
I've never seen the Rocky Mountains...
so I can't wait to capture them
in pictures!

I've had a busy and BEAUTIFUL summer...

Oh, I LOVE, LOVE Mackinac Island...my parents took me there on vacation when I was in 8th grade. I can't wait to go back as an adult with my own family.

Are you sure Mackinac Island actually exists, it looks like a hollywood film set from the fifties.
You're so lucky to have experienced this place, it's absolutely delightful.

Dear Jill:
Your pictures and stories are always inspiring.
Thank you so much for the well wishes.
I am almost 100 percent healed and now about to conquer the blogging world.
